Ghanaian reggae-dancehall artist, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., better known by his stage name Shatta Wale, formerly Bandana was born on 17 October 1984 to Charles Nii Armah Mensah Snr and Elsie Evelyn Avemegah. His father is a politician, businessman and legal practitioner.
Shatta wale is now an established artiste in Ghana and other African countries like Nigeria. He has won numerous honors for his performances on both local and international stages and he continues to uplift the name of Ghana higher.

Early LIfe
During his formative years, Shatta Wale resided with his family in Laterbiokorshie, Dansoman, and then Korle Gonno.
His father exposed him to Jamaican culture at a young age by playing Reggae albums in the house and going with him to the United Kingdom to see his half-Jamaican relatives.
Education
Shatta Wale studied at the Seven Great Princes Academy in Dansoman, an Accra neighborhood, and while there, he showed an interest in the arts by acting in the popular drama series By the Fireside at Ghana’s National Theatre.
He started high school at Winneba Secondary School, when he discovered his love for music. Unfortunately, things took a drastic change when Shatta Wale dropped out of Winneba Secondary School and later enrolled and completed his studies at a separate school in the Volta Region.
Music Career
After releasing his single “Moko Hoo,” in which he collaborated with Tinny, the Ghanaian musician shot to fame in 2004. However, at the time, he was recognized as ‘Bandana.’
He couldn’t keep up with the music industry’s pace and went missing for a few years before resurfacing in 2013 under the stage name ‘Shatta Wale’ rather than ‘Bandana.’
Shatta Wale returned with a strong determination to excel in the music industry, and he launched his own record company, dubbed “Shatta Movement Records.”
He was mostly responsible for producing and mastering the majority of his tracks, including “Havana,” “Shatta City,” “Enter the Net,” “Everybody Likes My Tin,” and “Dance Hall King,” the latter of which became his greatest success following his comeback.
The songs were highly welcomed in Ghana and around the world, with critics pointing to the influence of Jamaican dance hall, as many Ghanaians were only familiar with hip-life with a hint of reggae.
Terry Bonchaka and Yoggy Doggy, among others, are credited with developing Shatta Wale when he first started out in the dance hall.
In 2019 he also had a collaboration with Beyoncé titled “Already” on her album The Lion King: The Gift which was nominated at the Grammy Awards
