The SALAGA SOUTH MCE and the NPP Party Executives handed over Start-up kits to over 106 apprentices in the East Gonja Municipality.
The Municipal Chief Executive for the East Gonja Municipal Assembly, Hon. Richard Broni together with the NPP Constituency Executives led by Chairman Alhassan Mugis handed over a over 200 start-up kits to apprentices in the East Gonja Municipality, on Monday, the 13th of June, 2022.
The MCE indicated that, the initiative by the Ghana Enterprise Agency and the Mastercard foundation project saw the provision of apprenticeship training in different fields of trade to young people including; Tailoring and dressmaking, hairdressing, welding, weaving, carpentry among others.
He explained that the provision of training and start-up kits to apprentices was one of the prominent campaign promises of President Akufo – Addo prior to the 2020 elections which was aimed at investing in skills training, apprenticeship aimed at reducing the unemployment problem among youths of this country and creating opportunities to source their livelihoods through the free TVET programme as well as support them to enroll into the various trade apprenticeship programmes
He thanked the beneficiaries for accepting to go through the six months training which qualifies them to operate as entrepreneurs and tasked them to put into practice whatever they learnt during their apprenticeship and make use of the start-up kits given them as proper mechanism will be put in place to monitor the usage of the kits.
The NPP Constituency Chairman, Hon. Alhassan Mugis also encouraged the beneficiaries to put those start-up kits into good use and was optimistic that these apprenticeship training will open a new chapter in the lives of apprentices to enable them become self reliance and productive citizens.
He opined that this kind of initiatives goes to affirm the NPP government commitment in ameliorating the suffering of the masses, most especially the youth of this country.
He advised the apprentices to be an ambassadors of government in telling the people how some of these projects are going to impact their lives positively, hence the need to help the NPP break the eight (8) in the 2024 elections.
The items consists of Hairdryers, Sewing machine, Welding machines, Barbering machines, Barbering sterilizers, Conditioners, Shampoos, Gloves among others. The event was attended by the East Gonja Municipal workers, The Presiding Member, the NPP Constituency Executives, representatives of political parties, the clergy, imams, stakeholders and heads of departments in the municipality.
