Nsawam Government Hospital
One of Ghana’s well-known district hospitals is the Akuapim South Municipal Hospital. The hospital, which is situated in Nsawam, the administrative center of the Akuapim South Municipality, has adopted the name Nsawam Government Hospital in popular usage.
Ayigbe town is the location of the hospital, which opened its doors in 1928. In contrast, it was moved to its current location in 1982, which is on the Nsawam-Aburi road.
The distinguished 2nd Best Managed District Hospital Award winner from 2003 initially had a 50-bed capacity at its previous location.
Over the years, the hospital has been developed into a 135-bed facility thanks to the hard work and dedication of administration and personnel.
The hospital includes five primary wards: male and female medical and surgical, pediatric, maternity, and a casualty department with 19 beds.
For students studying dentistry, ophthalmology, and nursing, the hospital has a dentist, an opthalmologist, and a number of experienced senior nursing officers.
Over 235 people work in the hospital’s round-the-clock care department. As one of the top facilities for quality control and infection control in the eastern region, the hospital is well-known. The prestigious “baby-friendly” distinction was given to it for the first time in the eastern region.
