Benjamin Roberts-Smith VC, MG is an Australian businessman and a former Australian Army soldier. The most decorated serving member of the Australian Defense Force Roberts-Smith, received the Victoria Cross (VC) in 2011 and the Medal for Gallantry (MG) in 2006.
On 1 November 1978, Roberts Smith in Perth, Western Australia was born to Sue and Len Robert-Smith, a former justice of the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
Eve and Elizabeth, his daughters from his marriage to Emma Roberts-Smith, are twins. Sam, his brother, was a professional opera singer.
Later, he received a Commendation for Distinguished Service in recognition of his accomplishments as a patrol commander in Afghanistan in 2012.
In 2013, Roberts-Smith resigned from the army to pursue a business degree at the University of Queensland. He was named the regional television network Seven Queensland’s deputy general manager in 2015. Later, he received a promotion to general manager of the metropolitan station Seven Brisbane as well as the regional network.
Roberts-Smith’s conduct in Afghanistan were questioned in 2017 by an independent commission looking into allegations of illegal behavior by (Australia’s) Special Operations Task Group in Afghanistan.
