The national SIM Cards re-registration exercise will begin today, October 1, 2021, according to Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Minister of Communications and Digitizations. As of right now, you can use the USSD shortcode *404# to register your sim card with your Ghana card.
Despite being scheduled for June, the national SIM Card re-registration exercise was delayed because of the COVID-19 spike during that time.
The goal of the SIM Card re-registration exercise, according to the Ministry of Communication and Digitizations, is to increase general security while reducing crimes connected to mobile phones, such as prank calls, cybercrime, mobile money fraud, and its related problems.
