Rita Ora’s Identity
On November 26, 1990, Ora was born to Albanian parents in Pristina, SFR Yugoslavia (now Kosovo). Vera Sahatçiu, her mother, is a psychiatrist, and Besnik Sahatçiu, her father, is a pub owner who has a background in economics.
Due to the political persecution of Albanians that began with the breakup of Yugoslavia, her family departed Kosovo. She was a baby when they moved to London, England in 1991. She attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School for performing arts while growing up in West London’s Notting Hill.
Rita Ora: Career
Ora started giving performances at open mic nights in different parts of London and even in her father’s pub. She qualified for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 after auditioning for Eurovision: Your Country Needs You on BBC One in 2008, however she later left the competition after a few episodes because she “did not feel ready” and believed “that challenge wasn’t for her.”
At age 13, she had her debut television appearance in an episode of the British drama series The Brief. She then had an appearance in the 2004 British movie Spivs. Hyuna, a Korean pop diva, and Ora shared the screen in an episode of Funny or Die titled “Girl, You Better Walk” in April 2014.
“R.I.P.” (with Tinie Tempah) was released on May 6, 2012, as the first UK single from her debut album. The song, which was created by Chase & Status, arrived at the top of the UK Singles Chart and became her first solo UK number one.
On August 27, 2012, her debut album was made available in Europe and Oceania, and it immediately shot to the top of the UK Albums Chart. In the Best New Artist, Push Artist, and Best UK/Ireland Act categories of the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards, Ora was nominated.
She declared on April 19, 2023, that You & I, her third studio album, would be published on July 14, 2023. She also made available that day a remix of Fatboy Slim’s 1999 song “Praise You” called “Praising You,” which included her.
