The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) is a government of Ghana body that reports to the Ministry of the Interior. Ghana Immigration Service plays an indispensable role in the country in contributing towards law and order.
The GIS oversees the examination and approval of visa, entrance, and resident permit applications in Ghana. Controlling foreign nationals in Ghana, easing the processing of Ghanaian passport applications, border control and management, and refugee registration, protection, and management. The service provides guidance on and guarantees the effective application of all immigration and associated laws and regulations.

The uniform of the Ghana Immigration Service is made to blend with the natural environment especially when they go on expeditions in the forest. They have this greeen uniform that makes them undetectable when they get in the midst of trees to serve as camouflage.
Ghana Immigration Service Uniform History
The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) established the Immigration Service Academy and Training School (ISATS) in 1998 to provide professional training and produce knowledgeable Officers to carry out its obligation of ensuring effective migratory administration and management in the country and contributing to national security.
After years of relying on Sister Security Agencies — the Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Police Service, Prisons Service, and Fire Service – to equip Officers for the Ghana Immigration Service, the Ghana Immigration Service is now self-sufficient (GIS).
ISATS was founded during the reign of the late Commissioner of Police (COP) W.K. Aboah, the former Director of Immigration, who obtained two road camps from the Assin Traditional Authorities.
