Chartrand said his office received a report from the Cuyahoga County coroner’s office, which performed the autopsy, on Thursday. Levert, 40, died on November 10 in his suburban Cleveland home, the son of O’Jays singer Eddie Levert.

According to Andy Gibson, a family spokesman, Levert was taking the pain medication due to chronic pain from a lingering shoulder problem and surgery to repair a severed Achilles tendon in 2005. Levert had pneumonia, according to the autopsy. Gibson stated that Levert also took Xanax for anxiety attacks.
