The Ashanti Region is located in south Ghana and is the third largest of Ghana’s 16 administrative regions, with 24,389 km2 (9,417 sq mi) or 10.2% of the total geographical area.
The Ashanti Region is situated in the heart of Ghana’s middle belt. It is located between 0.15W and 2.25W longitudes and 5.50N and 7.46N latitudes. Six of the sixteen political regions share borders with the region, including the Bono, Bono East, and Ahafo Regions in the north, the Eastern Region in the east, the Central Region in the south, and the Western Region in the southwest
According to the 2021 Population and Housing Census, Ashanti Region is the second most populous region in the country with a population of 5,440,463 only behind the Greater Accra Region.
The Ashanti Region boasts of Forty-three (43) administrative Districts, Municipals and Metropolitan with Kumasi as its Regional Capital.
