History
The colonial government first established teacher education when it opened Accra Teacher Training College on 8th September, 1909 to offer education to the populace. The college was founded as a day training college with 19 students and eight members of staff. The College was moved to its present site at East Legon on 10 January 1985. It became a boarding institution in 2001. By 2022, a clinic with a resident nurse had been added to the college’s infrastructure.
The College’s establishment allowed students from all over the country to come together as one people of one nation under one roof in Accra, and each batch of students graduated with a true sense of comradeship and brotherly compassion. This fraternal love united teachers from all tribes and belief systems from all over the Gold Coast.
