Authorities announced Wednesday that the Princeton University student whose corpse was discovered on campus in October, one week after she went missing, committed suicide.
Misrach Ewunetie, 20, was discovered by an employee on the grounds behind the tennis courts on Oct. 20, six days after she was last seen in her hostel.
An autopsy performed by the Middlesex Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Ewunetie committed suicide.
W. Rochelle Calhoun, the school’s Vice President for Campus Life, called Ewunetie’s death a “unthinkable tragedy” after her body was discovered.
Escitalopram and bupropion are frequently used to treat depression. Antihistamine Hydroxyzine is recommended for anxiety and allergies. Hours after the school’s Terrace Club hosted a live music performance, Ewunetie was last observed.
Alexander Moravcsik, the club’s founder, previously told Fox News Digital that she had offered to assist with “housekeeping responsibilities.”
When Ewunetie’s family didn’t hear from her for two days, they got in touch with the school.
“The cause of her death was determined to be bupropion, escitalopram and hydroxyzine toxicity,” according to a statement from the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.
